Review: Crown of Midnight by Sarah Maas

Title: Crown of Midnight
Author: Sarah Maas
Series: Throne of Glass series book 2
Genre: Young Adult, Supernatural (Faeries)

From the throne of glass rules a king with a fist of iron and a soul black as pitch. Assassin Celaena Sardothien won a brutal contest to become his Champion. Yet Celaena is far from loyal to the crown. She hides her secret vigilantly; she knows that the man she serves is bent on evil.

Keeping up the deadly charade becomes increasingly difficult when Celaena realizes she is not the only one seeking justice. As she tries to untangle the mysteries buried deep within the glass castle, her closest relationships suffer. It seems no one is above questioning her allegiances—not the Crown Prince Dorian; not Chaol, the Captain of the Guard; not even her best friend, Nehemia, a foreign princess with a rebel heart.

Then one terrible night, the secrets they have all been keeping lead to an unspeakable tragedy. As Celaena's world shatters, she will be forced to give up the very thing most precious to her and decide once and for all where her true loyalties lie...and whom she is ultimately willing to fight for.

AAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! >.< I love this book! It's really really better than the first one. I'm not saying that the first book is bad. This is just better. Way beyond my expectations. I can't stop thinking about it!

In the novellas, you could see that Sarah is trying to find an even footing, even in the first book, but now she managed to have a firm grasp of what she wanted. Sorry, for the shift from foot to hands. She managed to do it discreetly that it's not a bogus addition of events and materials. The book contains a lot of mysteries and action that you just can't stop. More and more things are unfolding and we could now truly see the world Sarah made for us.

Sarah made me love her characters more and more, as well. I love the killing machine Celaene. It's just so wicked awesome. I hope it happens more often. Chaol is just so cute but quite hollow on the head. As for Dorian, still no love for him. The only thing about Sarah's characters is that they are quite stupid? They are simply existing in their own world. They are thrown in a world that is much much bigger than they could ever imagine but they are not doing anything about it. Good thing that some changes are happening. The character growths are great.

Also, I love it that Celaene and Chaol are together. -^.^- I can't believe that the next book will be on September. I can't standing it. I need the book!!!!

Rating: 6/5
