Review: A Taste of Japan in Hanamaruken

Susan didn't want to join in on the photo :(

The Gang is out for more! To fill us up before watching Mr. Peabody & Shermen (cute by the way, most especially for me, who loves history), we are out for a hunt on something that will satisfy our palates. We've already eaten in almost every restaurant in Trinoma but it's a really good thing that new restaurants pop out once in a while, most especially the good ones. We chose Hanamaruken. You could find this place in the circle outside. Even if we have a limited time to eat, we still enjoyed this mouth watering place. I'll say this is the best ramen place I've eaten in so far. It actually exceeded the ramen shop we ate in in Shinjuku, Japan. I don't know maybe our tour guide didn't bring us to a better place. It's really great that we could enjoy a really good ramen shop here in the Philippines. Anyhow, to the FOOD!!!

Review: Get Tied to Thaipan

Look how cute dad is with his present :)
Finally! After so long of not being able to update my foodtrip section, due to schoolwork bombardment, I've finally managed to give myself time to do so. A lot of these post are long over due. I think some of them happened last year. Anyway, this time the Gang is not complete. Men is out of the country during this time (Sad, he didn't take us with him *sniff*) so we ate out with my family, with the addition of Susan, my cousin. We're here to celebrate dad's birthday and it's a really really rare occurrence for the family to be complete because of my sisters' works. We could say that this is a really special event.

After eating and enjoying Romulo's Cafe, I've been really dying to try out their other restaurants so I dragged my family to eat in Thaipan in Thomas Morato. I saw this one when we were having a joy ride because the restaurant we were going to was still closed. Basically, the restaurant serves Thai food, which we could obviously figure out based on the name. I don't really eat that much thai food. I think you could count the times I've eaten in one in one hand so I really don't have any idea what to order. Susan and I did some research before we went there. We've consulted other blogs regarding the best dishes.

Other than not knowing what to order, the ordering itself is a struggle. I CAN'T READ OR PRONOUNCE THAI WORDS. There in the roman alphabet, obviously, but the words..... uuhhh...... so hard. Thai is one of the languages that I'm not really familiar with. The only thai exposure I had was watching A Crazy Little Thing Called Love, starring Mario Maurer (He's such a cutey pie <3), which we watched in mute (There is a seriously long story there that I will not dwell on) so no help there. Anyway, lets talk Food!

Review:
Title: Taking Angels
Author: C.S. Yelle
Series: The Angel Crusades series book 1
Genre: Young Adult, Supernatural (Angels)

I really like how this book started off. All the drama, it was just great. So dark. I'll say, not your typical start off in a story. The story mainly revolves around Allister's trial, the escaping and stuff. I think the whole plot was fine. I actually like it because the author manages to places almost all my favorite elements, like the kidnapping, near death experience, etc.

However, the story went a bit bumpy after that. At first, the author manages to convey the scenes and events but by the end, it jumps from one thing to the other. The book didn't really manage to explain some stuff that I hope would be explained in the next book (w/c I didn't really know about until I finished this book). Also, I hope there would be more action.

The really down side of this book is the romance. It's a complete and total harem. Everybody is falling in love with the girl without anything really happening. I mean if she shows kindness maybe but they haven't been together that long to actually see that. I get the "she pulls people to her" but seriously? 3 dramatic boys, you could say.

All in all, I think this is a great book. It's pretty exciting for my taste.

Rating: 3.5/5

Review: The Faerie Guardian by Creepy Hallow

Title: The Faerie Guardian
Author: Rachel Morgan
Series: Creepy Hallow series book 1
Genre: Young Adult, Fantasy (Faeries)

A faerie girl.
A human boy.
A magical world.
A dangerous plot.

Protecting humans from dangerous magical creatures is all in a day’s work for a faerie training to be a guardian. Seventeen-year-old Violet Fairdale knows this better than anyone—she’s about to become the best guardian the Guild has seen in years. That is, until a cute human boy who can somehow see through her faerie glamour follows her into the fae realm. Now she’s broken Guild Law, a crime that could lead to her expulsion.

The last thing Vi wants to do is spend any more time with the boy who got her into this mess, but the Guild requires that she return Nate to his home and make him forget everything he’s discovered of the fae realm. Easy, right? Not when you factor in evil faeries, long-lost family members, and inconvenient feelings of the romantic kind. Vi is about to find herself tangled up in a dangerous plot—and it’ll take all her training to get out of it alive.

Overall feelings towards this book is "Fine". I didn't expect the book to be this short. I managed to finish it within a few hours. I was expecting more adventures around the faerie world. Also, it was a bit rushed, like it's not even a series but a single book only. You could say that I was a bit disappointed with what was happening but it was bearable. My real problem is the first half but the second half was kind of nice and exciting.

Review:
I'm really shock by how good this book is. Most of the time, I don't really like single books; I prefer series to prolong the fun. However, I think the authors did quite well with this book. They managed to cover all grounds. Though, a bit of unanswered questions here and there but it's great for a single book to cover all grounds.

The really endearing thing about this book is that you are going to follow the friendship of Adam and Christy, not the relationship like in most books. Both of them are just so cute together. You could really see the bond between them that they don't just drop each other because of new friends or relationships. Other than that, I really love that Adam is gay because not much books does that. I think homosexual characters are cute and has more character in them. Also, it's pretty neat that the authors used that as part of the main story line, like the bullying, problems, etc. that gays are experiencing.

The problem that I have with this book is the short time for Christy to be witchy. I want more witch moments. However, other than that I think this book is pretty great. I'm so envious with both of their parents because they are just so adorable. -^.^-

This is something great if you want to do some short reading.
